London +Love

the xx - shelter (them jeans drum edit)

Hello neglected lovers, long time no see. The air is getting colder, the coats are coming on, and so the sounds like leaves change accordingly. Love takes on new forms. No one knows gray weather better than the British, and much-hyped The xx sounds like a warm double bed on a cold day. Listen to these songs while walking with your iPod and watch as your life is transformed into a beautifully framed slow motion tracking shot.

And here, another British band, The Big Pink. They've got a bit of a noisier sound, but under all that distortion is a big heart. High volume intensifies the pleasure she can offer. Give her a chance ('Dominoes' is a good poppy track, but 'Velvet' is where the real shits at) and if you're interested read my full review of their album, A Brief History of Love, on PMA. Maybe one day we can all start bands with a name like The Big Pink and get mysterious girls to pose for album covers, but until then we'll just enjoy the music.
